San Martin Tilcajete

A tour of Oaxaca that includes the land of the alebrijes, the town of black clay and Teotitlán del Valle, is an incredible experience to learn about the cultural and artistic richness of this region of Mexico.
The first place on this tour is the land of the alebrijes, in the community of San Martín Tilcajete. Here we will visit an artisan's workshop, where they create these colorful and fantastic animals made of wood, which have become an icon of Mexican folk art. It is possible to see the carving and painting process, as well as acquire a unique and authentic piece to take as a souvenir. -

Afterwards, we will visit the town of San Bartolo Coyotepec, known for its black clay pottery. Here we will visit one of the workshops where artisans create beautiful pieces of black clay, such as vases, plates and figurines, using ancestral techniques. It is possible to see the production process and buy pieces directly from the artisans.

We will continue with a visit to the town of Teotitlán del Valle, famous for its hand-woven woolen rugs. Here we will visit one of the workshops where artisans weave rugs and other textiles using natural dyes and traditional designs. In addition, you can watch dyeing and weaving demonstrations, and buy a unique and authentic piece.
